Computer Security Tips

Let’s talk about computer security.

I’ll list a few things here that you should be doing regularly to keep your computer safe and sound.

  1. Perform regular backups.
  2. Periodically scan your computer for viruses, spyware, and other malware.
  3. Keep your Operating System up to date.
  4. Avoid opening email/attachments from people you do not know.
  5. DO NOT click on pop ups that say something like “Speed up your PC” or “Your PC has errors”. These are most likely coming from the website you are on and will actually infect your PC when you click on the OK button.

In the mean time, here are some of the software tools we use to repair computers that have been infected.

Hitman ProWe use Hitman Pro in conjunction with the other software to clean up all kinds of junk. You will need to know whether or not you are running a 32-bit or 64-bit OS. Reboot in Safe Mode, run this software, and let it do its thing.

We use AVG Internet Security 2013 as our mainstay for preventing infections. There are several great features in the latest version that will help keep your PC safe and sound while not degrading performance like so many other Antivirus Protectors out there.
